Just got back from the seasons opener at Pollington, and as you can guess,it was a brilliant start to the year.
Seemed to be well attended by plenty of ex and current servicemen and women, and I was stood next to one old lady, who when the 3 aircraft came into view, was nearly in tears at the sight and sounds that were above her.
This why the BBMF is the best team in the world today in my opinion.
Does anyone know who the crews were today?
As I didn’t take a camera, was anyone else there who did?
Ken.

Nice one Ben, the mono pic’s inspired!
Ken, thanks for the info, a guy I used to have a pint with from time to time was quite heavily involved with the memorial garden, his father having been based at Pollington (and Burn) during the war. He often offered to guide me around the memorial but we never got around to it – one day soon perhaps.
Glad you had an enjoyable and poignant day. I agree with your sentiment re: the BBMF – national treasures.

Davski.
The memorial garden is on the road between Great Heck and Pollington,at the east end of the airfield, opposite the brick works.
I was actually there last Sunday as well with a friend of mine who hadn’t seen it before, and he was quite moved when we left.
In my opinion,it’s the best one around, unless anyone knows better……
Ken.

Thanks for that BB! My ‘Auto’ is only as good as yours 😀
Yes, first warbird appearance of the season is always special, and lovely to see the full BBMF trio (just the fighters last time I headed over to Pollington). Not sure where the memorial garden is so camped on the grass verge on Snaith Road with a couple of dozen others including Ben (hope Mr Neighbourhood Watch didn’t lose you a lift home, Ben!).
Anyway, pic attached for evidential purposes only, shooting into the sun for the most part (static props and all!).

I was there but I will leave it to Davski to provide the photographs.
