Further research has turned up these images of the Whirlwind Horn…
As you can see the image in the AP shows a different model, does anyone have one and can they take a couple of photos for me please…
As this will be used for our Virtual Whirlwind, can anyone provide us with a recording of what they sound like… 🙂

What sort of noise does it make? High, Low, constant, intermittent…?
According to my old copies of The Beano – “Arooooga!”

its very much like a car horn (monotone that is), I acquired the one for my Hurricane out of my Hunter F1 cockpit!!! Were not fitted to later Hunters…I may try popping 12v across it if I can or am brave!!! It can be seen in a cockpit shot on my website IIRC

Thanks Bruce, I’ve got some nice photos now og the type in the AP, so we’ve got something to model now…;)
1930’s Car Horn?
What sort of noise does it make? High, Low, constant, intermittent…?
Sorry to have to ask all this detail, but we need to get it right for authenticity…
Best regards

same as Hurricane.
Identical noise to the old thirties car horns.
