This is the first I’ve seen this title – my father picked up parts 1 through 13 plus 15 and 16 at a book sale this passed weekend… each, 20pp, B4 (approx) full colour.
Does anyone know how many issues were printed and if not too many more, does anyone have a ‘Part 14’ to spare?
As near as I can tell, these may have been promotional pieces for larger volumes, but again, I’m not sure.
The publishing information is listed as follows:
New English Library Limited
Barnard’s Inn, Holborn, London
Printed in Holland by Smeets Lithographers, Weert
and several issues promote “The History of Aviation Readers Club”
c/o Four S Travel Ltd. Kingsway, London
with regard to “Club events” including ‘Paris Air Show 1971’, ‘Hanover Air Show 1972’, and ‘Moonshot Cape Kennedy, Apollo 16, August 1971’.
Any further insight into this/these publications is greatly appreciated.

If its the part-work I think it is then I wrote the section on the Vickers Vedette flying boat for it! I think it may have later been republished as a coffee table type of hard-back. I think Phil Jarrett may have asked me for the piece … maybe it was a different part-work but it would have been early 1970s.
Blimey … when did I get so old … or maybe I was just very young 🙂

Thanks for the input Mark… I’ve been beside myself for the last few days perusing these issues… and quite honestly, I’m amazed at the print quality and the manner in which these have stood the test of time… complete with loose-leaf inserts (see attached – this from Part 11). For a ‘bunch’ of loose ‘mags’ almost 40 years old, the colour has not faded and the quality of the photography is simply amazing. I don’t know when the ‘coin’ changed in the UK, but Parts 1-9 were priced at 4’6, and thereafter (10 to 16 as I hold) were 22 1/2 P (4’6)
By the time Part 13 comes around, there is a greater credits ‘boilerplate’ inside the front page which states… (a few names I am familiar with)
EDITORS: John R W Taylor, FRHistS, AFRAeS, FSLAET Editor and Compiler, Jane’s All the World’s Aircraft Kenneth Munson Assistant Compiler, Jane’s All the World’s Aircraft PHOTOGRAPHIC EDITOR: Ann C Tilbury Photographic Librarian, Flight International EDITORIAL ASSISTANT: Michael J H Taylor ART DIRECTOR: Allen J Weston DESIGNERS: Michael D Stride Jonathan A Bingham David J Kingston Designed and produced for New English Library by the Ian Allan Group

I vaguely remember this part work from my days working for WH Smith in the 60s/70s but am not sure of its original number of parts, although I did collect it at the time – long since gone.
However, Orbis Publishing published a part work called “Wings” – my last index is dated (c)1980 so I supposed it was published in the late 70s to 1980. The reason I mention this is that the last binder (number 11) consists of what I believe to be a reprint of “The History of Aviation”. This version (of 20pp) consists of 15 parts.
Hope this is of help.
