Tipsy Trainer air-to-airs from a new kid on the block!

A brief air-to-air sortie with ‘Propstrike’s Piper Cub on the way home from the VAC Rally at Turweston, has resulted in these pics.

Not taken by ‘yer man’ though. These were taken by his 12 year-old son Oliver!

Look to your laurels Eric, Damien, Robbo, Mike and co. There’s a new kid on the block!!

Thanks for the photoshopping Propstrike – although I think Grommit looks better in the aeroplane.

By the way, the Porridge Cannon interrupter gear mod was not a success. Messy!

Very sad to report, but one of those awful people from that nasty ‘Plane Talk’ forum has seen fit to ‘virtually’ vandalise a classic vintage aircraft.

Aside from being impolite, it is historically questionable, since there is no confirmed record of any Tipsy ever being fitted with a porridge canon.

Au contraire, Propstrike!

Just been looking through my technical library, and found the proof:

AP1234 (1938)
Conversion of Tipsy Trainer to (Emergency) Ground Attack Aircraft
Part 1 – Gear, interruptor, porridge Mk 1a

Guy Black could probably knock one up for you.

Luvverly Tipsy

One of the prettiest little aeroplanes ever made, if you ask me.

I have admired it for years and I shall make a large-scale model of it one day with a nice purring four-stroke up front.

Great pics too.

I agree with you there mate. That is the kind of thing that says this is what flying is all about.

What a lovely aircraft.

That looks idyllic – if a little chilly.
