Operation Bolero 3 a no go…

Just read over on Airshowbuzz that Glacier girl will not be crossing the pond this year but there is confirmation that the 3 ship horsemen will be attending legends this year. Does this mean there will be 2 mustangs arriving in containers?

Just thought i would let you good people all know

I believe that David Arnold holds the world record for keeping three Mustangs in tight formation for the longest time…albeit in 3 containers at various “secret” locations over the years 😀

Not for me.. personally i hate seeing any historic aircraft in tight formation(

Not a fan either. Got no problems with a reasonably tight mass formation as per the end of show Balbo….but don’t like the tight formation aerobatic stuff.

formation aerobatics

I’m with you Wyvernfan ,

Personally I can see no point in tight formation aerobatics in warbirds ,the pilots involved have proved their respective abilities as warbird pilots and I admire them for it, but where I marvelled at and enjoyed every second of the Breitling Fighters routines ,when the Mustang duo’s with their tighter formations started I just thought and still do that it was just an unneccessary risk

its gonna be an amazing sight of 3 p51s in tight formation. i’m sure we are in for a treat whatever they may be.

Not for me.. personally i hate seeing any historic aircraft in tight formation. Don’t see the reason behind it other than the pilots showing off there flying skills.
Don’t get me wrong.. love seeing all historic aircraft flying… especially at Dx, but that Mustang duo at every legends just makes me wince.!:(

BBD (G-HAEC) and ‘Ferocious Frankie’ *

*DISCLAIMER:-The mention of the above two P-51’s has no basis in fact, I’m just bored:dev2:

Ed Shipley has stated “The plan is to use Miss Velma at DUX and two other Stangs that we’ve secured. Honestly, we hate mentioning the names of the planes because it just seems to cause trouble when there are scheduling issues or mechanical stuff. Know what I mean? At any rate we will be there with 3 Stangs.”
