First Of The Few, Film Location

Hi

Not long ago i asked about the possible location of the following hangar,
assuming that the label at the top is correct, it was located at Henley Aerodrome, in the first photograph

Whilst watching a recording of the First of the Few the other day i noticed that the hangar from which the ‘prototype’ is pushed out of, has the same roof, windows, markings on the hangar door, two flag poles by the hangar, and on the far right in both photos a petrol pump is just visible, I have not been able to find any mention of Henley being used for filming this scene, or even if that is the actual location.
The scenes that follow of it taking off however appear to be taken elsewhere, (Ibsley is often mentioned as a location) as Henley is flat whereas the film shots have a fairly sloping background.

Also the Spitfire involved i assume is a Mark 1 fitted for filming with a 2 blade prop, at the time of filming i believe early 1941?, Henley was assembling some Mark 1’s which were later converted to PR.IV aircraft.
any clues as to it’s identity?

Henley or High Post?

Hi

looking at the photo that has a link to High Post, and matching it with the original black and white one plus a current aerial view i am certain that the hangar used in the film is High Post, as there is a shed that runs down the left side which has blocked out all but one of the windows, and on the left of the original wartime photograph there is a small building in the distance with a pointed roof, this matches exactly the same position in the aerial photograph
of today.

First Of The Few, Film Location

Cheers for that, that’ll teach me for not looking at that request.
You could be right about High Post, that picture of mine is bugging
me, i think the label at the top of the photo might be misleading?,
about it being Henley.

Henley or High Post?

If you have a look at the post on BoB pilots in the film you’ll see I posed the same question about the location of the “prototype” roll-out!

The hangar is a dead-ringer for the one at Henley but I’ve seen others of the interior of High Post which shows identical windows.

The High Post hangar still stands:

I don’t know if the Henley hangar is still there?
