Re Unusual uses for engines

Whilst searching for a photo to add to the unusual engine use thread I came across this shot I rescued from the waste bin at Boscombe. Its shows a canopy jettison / ejector seat trial set up at the Blower Tunnel (4 Merlins worth of draft).
Cockpiteers get excited now.:D

Zebedee is correct, its the Bristol 188 and I think the other cockpit is a mock up of the NA39 (it certainly looks like one of the other photos I have).

Here is another photo, this time of the blower tunnel itself which is still at Boscombe and still earning its crust.

I lost count of the times I rushed to the office window to look for the Lanc flying over when I heard the roar of four Merlins being wound up for a trial.:o

From what I can see (NF Venom, a Venom of Vampire wing, a Barracuda and a Dragonfly) I would think its taken sometime in the 50s, but as Boscombe still operates an aircraft built in 1943 (Harvard) and others dating from the 60s it could be a lot later.

Bristol 188 cockpit section by any chance…?

Affirm, and looks like its canopy in foreground. Godfrey Auty was voted the pilot most likely to eject by the SBAC during the period of 188 test flights, so seat trials probably very useful!
