Yak-18s in the UK

Hello all,

I’m looking to see if anyone can help me in telling me where there are Yak-18s based in the UK, I mean the more common T model rather than the rare origional 18. Back in spring 2007 I saw 3 or 4 at White Waltham and have seen 2 at Elstree but can anyone tell me if they are still bases there? Or if anyone knows of any others?

I would use G-INFO and search the type but many are hungarian or russian registered.

Cheers, Huw:)

She was flown – very nice article on the trip in one of the general aviation mags (can’t remember which one).

Met the owner at Leicester once and saw him display it at Baxterley twice, it was based just a few miles from my home

Yak 18 HA-YAK Has now left the UK for Austria.

Thanks for that, shame as it has a great paint scheme. I presume she was put in a crate rather than flown?

Cheers, Huw:)

There was a red one which became smaller and smaller at White Waltham, and then ended up in a skip.

I imagine the spies who inform Wrecks and Relics of this sort of thing will know which one it is/was. I, sadly, find myself without a copy.

I actually saw this on my visit to White Waltham in 2007, such a shame to hear she was put in a skip now:mad: The aircraft was RA-01370, seen here in happyer days: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Yakovlev-Yak-18T/0891666/L/&width=1280&height=874&sok=&sort=&photo_nr=0&prev_id=&next_id=NEXTID

😀

And if you go next saturday you will see a vampire shaped object going for a flight and the chance to get up close and alot more. All for nothing! 😀

I hope I will be able to make it as I’ve missed it the past 2 years!

My trip to North Weald was good too, HA-YAF was up and about twice and HA-YAD dropped in too:D

Cheers, Huw:)

Off to North Weald now to see if HA-YAF is photographable, as well as to see if Hangar 11 are up and about.

Hello,

Just so you know, RA-02933 left Wickenby several years ago, and I think she’s left the country now.
