The Avro York never seems to get much recognition in spite of being such a blessing when needed during the Berlin airlift, & later carrying members of the armed forces & their families to distant corners of the globe, surely somebody has nice memories of her, & pics of this hard working ‘old lady’
Let at least give her credit, where credit is due. — bless her !!!

Thanks for posting the Skyways pictures , as a child I lived under the flightpath of Luton and a Skyways York was one of the aircraft I used to watch as were Ambassadors , Vikings , DC4s and Constellations .

A very poor quality shot I’m afraid (from a potocopy) to be found in the AFEE report P152 showing LV639 being tested for paratrooping February – March 45
Of note are the two sets of doors in the fuselage floor which allowed 20 CLE supply containers to be dropped at the same time.

I found the owner of this photos name somewhere, but can’t remember now, so credit to he or she for a colour pic of two Skyways Yorks at Heathrow.

A great line-up of planes that were assembled one day in Feb 1962. There is a York in there, trying to hide away from the ‘flashy new boys’.

Ahh there she is!

I am afraid these are poor quality scans of prints from my Fathers national service photo album, all were taken at Changi in 1954.
First is former Winston Churchill VIP York LV633, this aircraft was returned to the UK & scrapped in 1954, apparently due to excessive polishing!
Next is BOAC’s G-AGNN, followed by G-AMUV of Air Charter.

Here is a copy of a slide I found in the back of a filing cabinet during an office clearout.
Don’t knowhere or when but I presume its a trooper flight.

Three pics of Dan aircraft, taken from Captain Arthur Larkman’s book Dan-Air an airline and it’s people we just published.
I’ve also tagged in a pair of Arthur doing slush test trials at Thurleigh with an Ambi following the Munich Air Disaster.
