Well don’t get killed in the rush. There was only one on the UK civil register – for a grand total of twelve months! G-AFCD arived in June 1937 and was destroyed in a fatal crash at Hanworth in June 1938. But as the “post your photos here” thread seems to be the latest craze, why shouldn’t I get in on it with my passion for obscure pre war French light aeroplanes? Well I have to say that if the number of posts on this thread gets into double figures, I’ll eat my Bassou! In the meantime, à bientôt mes amis!

Yes and it’s the only image that I’ve ever seen too – other than the Youtube footage! As an aside, can those more knowledgeable than me say, by reference to the hangar and the delightful little wooden hut, whether the photo was taken at Hanworth?

Well I never, no-one has yet posted their photos of a Bassouu! Curiously, there is a short film clip on Youtube of the Bassou – go to www.youtube.com/watch?v=V19acRCqin8 – being flown to the UK in its previous marks as F-APDT. It’s Bassou c/n 2. I haven’t been able to trace c/n 1. The only other Bassou of which I have found mention is F.B.31 F-WFOL/PFOL, which is listed as a post-war amateur construction, having been first registered in 1953 and deleted from the register in 1977 as having been destroyed. Fascinating stuff, eh?
