Andy Cresswell

Some of those who visit this site will know the name of Andy Cresswell and some will know him personally.

Andy had been involved since the 1980’s in aircraft archaeology in SE England and had been involved with many of the museum groups in the area. He was also an avid “enthusiast” of all things Battle of Britain and a collector of related memorabilia.

In November 2008 some of you will know that Andy was murdered at his transport cafe business when he apparently disturbed a robbery. He was a gentle, likeable and inoffensive soul and someone passionate about our subject. He was also very knowledgeable in his sphere. He will be missed. I am privileged to have known him and to have worked with him.

For those who would like to know, Andy’s funeral will be at Charing Crematorium, Ashford, Kent on Friday 13 Feb at 11.20am. He will be brought to the service on the back of a 1954 Chevrolet pick-up truck with a motorcylcle escort (his other passion!) and weather permitting there will be a Spitfire flypast salute as the cortege arrives.

RIP Andy. Blue skies.

One of lifes nice guys, we had been talking about him only a couple of days before we heard of his death. I didn’t know him well but was always greeted like a long lost friend when we did meet up. RIP Andy.
