Mustang Ferry Pilot?

Can anyone recall who flew P-51D 44-63788 / N166G across the Atlantic in November 1979. I think it was being delivered to Warbirds of GB, it was later registered as G-PSID.

Thanks

Thanks Yak 11 Fan … any joy with N314BG & N51EA please.

N51EA – Max Vogelsang and Christian Schweizer.

Have sent a mail to Bret Ward regarding N314BG. Will hopefully have an answer by tomorrow.

Jeff Hawke flew the Mustang and Mike Wright the P47.

Can anybody come up with the names of the ferry pilots for P-51D 44-73140 / N314BG in 1988 and 44-72483 / N51EA in 1990 please.

This thread dealt with ferry flights and has got some photos of N166G and N47DE. I see that Mark12 even went through his notes back then and found N166G to be the future G-PSID. Forgotten it already Mark… 😉

Mike Wright is pictured on the wing of the P-47. Still have no idea who flew the second fighter. If anyone has got Air Classics from that time the flight was mentioned I think!

It looked fantastic in white/blue, and ghastly as a ‘warbird’.

Oh, to have had so many Mustang flights that some had been forgotten!

I think Yak11fan is right. Mike Wright flew either the P-51D or P-47 on that ferry flight.

I can check, but thought that Mike Wright/Jeff Hawke were involved.
