Barely historic – but this one is different.
US Navy prototype Aztec A N37LW s/n 27-134 is to make it’s last flight to Newcastle either Monday evening or Tuesday morning. It will be maintained in airworthy condition (with its new permit to fly) whilst in use as a demonstation tool within Newcastle College Aviation Academy.
Once she is safely indoors, I’ll post pictures of the facility which includes:
The above mentioned Aztec
BAC JP mk3 XM355
BAC JP mk3 XM419
BAC 1-111 fuselage G-AZMF
HP Jetstream 200 G-BBYM
A new un-flown Jetstream 200 fuselage (wings in store)

With reference to the above Aztec (s/n 27-134), was it ever finished in US Navy colours? If so, what were they? The records for this aircraft do not cover this period. All we know was that she was the prototype UO-1….. Help greatly appreciated!

The Aztec made her final flight today. I’ll post some pictures when I’ve cleared it with the boss.
She is now locked away in our hangar…

Lindy……………
No doubt about it to me, this is an historic. Likely it will be the oldest Aztec in Britain if not Europe, with a c/n number as low as that.
