What are the chances of any wrecks being recovered from around Malta?
The Seafire MB293 and the Maltese Hurricane have been recovered and are being rebuilt, so is it possible that further aircraft could be restorable? A Macchi 202 would be nice, as there are very few Italian warbirds.

My father told me a stroy that a number of aircraft were buried in a quarry or hole at the edge of Hal Far airfield, close to the see. Not sure what they were, or if they are still there?

Malta Seafires
In November I was speaking to a former FAA Seafire pilot.
He recalled scrapping Seafires in Malta by starting them up and allowing them to trundle off a cliff.
Brand new seafires, still in crates were dumped at sea.
Makes you want to weep!

Also when I was out there the curator of the museum, ‘Joe’ said that there were quite a few naval wrecks off the coast at Hal Far bu I cannot remember the types. He also said there was a Mosquito out there sometimes and known only by local divers however I imagine not much would remain.

Bristol Blenhiem
There are pictures of a Blenhiem in a diving book which is on sale on the island. Looks in quite good condition.
I’ve found a few pictures on the net however the book on Malta shows much more including the cockpit area complete with seat and pilots controls.

The link below shows a picture of a Bristol Beaufighter also located within Maltease waters.

When i was at the Malta Air Museum 7 years ago, one of the staff said they would like to rebuild an Italian aircraft. But i guess they havent found one in good enough condition yet.
