Hi all , i all looking at options on mounting my T35 Vampire cockpit on a trailer basically looking at building trailer from scratch or modify a trailer , was wondering if any vampire cockpit owners are on here and how they went about it , i want to mount it on a trailer to cut down hassles when taking it to shows etc .

Changing the subject a bit. I would be interested in the history of your Vampire.
Where did you get it from and what do you know about it.

I think I would do something pretty similar to what you already have. Pick up on the bottom of the noseleg casting at the front, and use 3″x3″ square section steel at the rear to pick up on the wing mounts. I would pick up top and bottom, but be careful as the bottom spar is wider than the top (been there, done that!)
Nice project BTW

Dave,
When you get the trailer made you should tow it around to my house and we can have a ‘Mini Cockpitfest in Oz’ for all the local forumites.

Why? its on indespension all round, with high speed tyres, taper roller wheel bearings, and braked on the rear; thats better than Junk collector’s car!
At least my car isn’t made out of recycled plastic 🙂

I was thinking something more like

the problem with that is you cant realy tow it behind a car, you need somethin with bigger wheels

A Land Rover firing on all cylinders does the job well 🙂
Haha 😀 I ment wheels and clearance, go over a bump at 40 and it might not do it good. Or go up a gravel road and the stones could fly up and chip it. So having abit more ground clearance and bigger wheels might be of benefit.

A variation on a theme.

A quick trawl of the excellent www.demobbed.org.uk gives this –

Only one I could find that was truly trailer mounted.
