Folks,
I am a big fan of the BBC “fly-on-the-wall” type of documentaries in military aviation. Especially the ones that have books “made to accompany the series”.
The first of these I saw as a NCC Air Wing (equivalent to the ROTC/University Air Squadron) cadet in India – it was called “Test Pilot”. I obtained a copy on DVD of that a few weeks ago.
In the last few days, as early Xmas presents, I have obtained “Fighter Pilot” and “Combat Pilot” from sources on this forum and from PPrune.
I have the books accompanying “Flying Soldiers” from the BBC (Tim Lambert wrote the book) which follows Course 354 of the AAC through flight training and “Top Guns” from Discovery which followed 29 Sqn with Tornado F.3s through Maple Flag.
I am looking for the series for “Flying Soldiers” and “Top Guns” on DVD. If someone is able to send me those I would be most grateful. I can provide info about the people in the UK willing to get you the “Test Pilot” and “Fighter Pilot” DVDs (with their permission of course).
Also – what other similar series would you recommend? One that I have on order here in the US (but haven’t seen myself) is “Speed and Angels” which follows an F-14 pilots course through carrier qualifications.
Regards
Anandeep
