I’d like to give the members of this forum a heads up.
I have checked with a senior moderator and he has given me the ok to promote this DVD as it is not a commercial venture, the small price just helps towards the costs.
Paul Jackson in New Zealand has produced a limited run DVD featuring nearly two hours of coloured home movie made by his later father-in-law Barrie Reid, an RNZAF pilot who served during the 1950’s and 60’s. Barrie filmed lots of stuff and it includes a lot of RAF, Royal Navy, USAF and RAAF stuff mixed in with all the RNZAF stuff. He served in the Middle East, Singapore, NZ and the Pacific.

More from Nicosia

I would like to thank all those who have ordered a copy of Barrie’s DVD. I hope you enjoy it. I have been posting stills from Barrie’s collection as well. (I’m not sure if it breaches forum rules to mention the forum these appear in – although it would not be hard to work out where). I thought that I would post a few here which are pertinent to RAF. Tell me if this is of interest or not….
Barrie was stationed in Nicosia in 1953 and took these at the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain air show.

A wonderful archive of military aviation in the 1950’s.

Sadly no Mustangs. I was hoping there might be because Barrie did fly them for a short while I think. There’s lots of Vampire and Venom action (including actual combat missions caught on his camera).

Any NZ Mustang stuff on there?
I will be ordering one anyway….

Yes, that sounds about right.

Am I right in thinking that the exchange rate is about 2.7 NZ$ to 1 GBPound??
At 18 NZ$ (15 + 3 p&p) that makes it £6.67 ??? – I must have that wrong.

And to whet your appetites of what you will find in the 1 hour and 48 minutes on the DVD (all narrated by the late Barrie himself) here are a few of the UK-oriented morsels of delight (the film quality is better than these screen grabs suggest):
