On the “Making of the Battle of Britain” dvd, F/Lt Bowring made the following statement:
“… One of my Polish officers called out that he was bailing out. Almost immediately two Messerschmitts started to attack him whilst he was on his parachute…”
I think this is a pretty severe accusation made against pilots of the Luftwaffe. Is this incident verified? Who was the Polish officer? Is it known who the Luftwaffe pilots were?

It happened on both sides.
Interestingly, Dowding wrote of the practice in his Desptach on the Battle of Britain in the London Gazette and stated his view that it was acceptable practice for Luftwaffe pilots to shoot at British pilots descending over the UK on their parachutes.
