Researching Sgt G Smith 1381597 12 Sqn 1942

Can anyone out there help me fill in the blanks concering the following airmans service with 12 Sqn (taken from his log book);

Sgt G Smith 1381597
Qualified as a W/Op at Yatesbury June 1941
Qualified as an AG at Manby September 1941.

Posted to 12 Squadron at Binbrook 14/10/41 & flew mostly as a rear gunner. He flew with various captains including P/O Fawdon / Sgt Fuller / P/O Muirhead & P/O Mather.

He completed a total of 17 Ops, the final one being 10/9/42 to Dusseldorf. This is where the mystery begins. In his log book there are absolutely no entries after an air test on 12/9/42. No certification of a completed tour / missing, etc. No entries in the rear pages showing service with subsequent units & no RAF depository stamps, etc.

My question is, does anyone know what happened to Sgt Smith? I have checked all the usual web sources to no avail.
