This is sooooo sexy…

Back in Sept this year, Rocketeer and I went to the States to visit the CAF Airsho. Before we went to Midland, we spent a day at Cavanaugh Flight Museum…..did the usual sort of thing….photographed anything that looked even remotely aviation oriented, went for flights in the Museum Stearman and Texan, spent a lot of time chatting to the guys there, then went for looksee around the hangars.

We were not expecting to see this gorgeous bit of kit as she was due to have been down at the Lone Star Flight Museum, but due to Hurricane Ike, she was taking centre stage, absolutely dominating her floor space in one of the hanagrs.

Once we had picked our jaws off the floor …very clean it was !…. we spent a lot of time just looking, taking it all in.

Pictures just do not do justice to this AC, she is bladdy gorgeous. She looks purpose built to be in a polished ali state and not painted. Admitidlly, a very labour intensive finish, but it really is a first rate build.

When we left Dallas the next day, while driving down to Midland, we spotted a sign saying ‘Breckenridge’. Well, it would have been rude not to detour so we weren’t rude and spent a very enjoyable afternoon chatting to the guys at Ezzel aviation. They were the guys who did the restoration on Lefty’s White Lightnin and produced this fantastic, polished, masterpiece.

Our main aim was to visit the CAF Airsho, which was not as good as we hoped it would be….wished I had been able to visit in the late 70s/early 80s.

The Ezell Family are some of the best people I’ve ever met.
Outside warbird operators they’re little-known, but if I had a plane, they’d get my business.

Nice people, first class operation. I wish I worked there!
