I came across this on Youtube and had often heard about the haunted Lincoln Bomber at Cosfrod air Museum…..

Lincolns seem to be prone to this sort of thing.
Back in the 1950s (yes, I’m that old!) at a RAAF maintenance base in Queensland, our long-nose Lincolns in the hangars creaked and banged a lot at night. This was due to extreme temperature differences between night and day.
National servicemen (“Nashos”) sometime did guard duty at night and, more than once, the regulars in the guardroom were called out to rescue one who was sure he was being haunted and couldn’t take it any more.
I attended one of these sorties once, and the young Nasho was standing in the middle of the tarmac well away from the hangar. He was as white as a ghost himself!

There was something in the local (Wolverhampton) newspaper, the Express & Star within the last couple of years where the perpetrator admitted that he was responsible for the “ghostly” happenings with the Lincoln. Can’t remember the details but I’m sure the article must be on the web somewhere.

Ah, the joys of Pareidolia!
See also spirit orbs, the gunman on the grassy knoll and the underground bit in Edinburgh which they sell as “the scene of the biggest paranormal experiment in Britain”, but keep mighty schtumm about the results.
(OK, the last one isn’t pareidolia, but it’s at the same level and works the same way)

I took this pic through the bomb-bay window last December. Ignoring the smudges, if I view it from about three feet away, I see a face and everyone else I’ve shown it to sees ‘something’ there (my friends have no interest in aviation and I didn’t tell them what they were supposed to be looking at – just asked what they thought of the photo). Probably just a trick of the light but intriguing – hope he’s enjoying himself whoever he is…
(it’s not a reflection of a face either as I had the camera well up above my head to take the photo and I’m 6′ 4″).
Incidentally, my sister in law had the opportunity to take a look around the C-47 that was/is (?) based at Speke. Without knowing anything about planes in general or this one in particular, immediately on entering the cabin, she burst into tears for absolutely no reason. She seems to be sensitive to this kind of thing as she often sees a phantom little lad in their house.

not the least of which was a figure walking towards the aircraft …… The figure disappeared when their attention was drawn to a loud and unexpected noise at the other end of the hangar. The figure was also seen by his wife and another member of the group stationed near the tailwheel. .
I wish to state categorically I have not been to the UK, nor to Cosford, nor in the vincinity of Lincoln RF398, and any resemblance of me to the figure paying regular nocternal visits to the airframe, or seen loitering near the aircraft with a tool box in hand, accompanied by loud and unexpected noises -near the tail wheel or other attractive and rare parts of the airframe – is purely coincidental!

As we can’t locate the earlier thread may I again post my proof-positive of there being something unworldly in the Cosford Lincoln.

Peter Underwood carried out an all-night vigil with a group of observers concerned with paranormal activity, and made a number of observations, not the least of which was a figure walking towards the aircraft wearing a flying jacket and parachute harness. The figure disappeared when their attention was drawn to a loud and unexpected noise at the other end of the hangar. The figure was also seen by his wife and another member of the group stationed near the tailwheel. This was documented in one of his many books (Peter being a well-known and respected observer of the paranormal). He also documents the many other observations that have involved the Lincoln over the years.

I remember the pics Papa. It still does not account for the sounds of switches being flipped etc?

This was discussed at great length on this Forum a long time ago and I contributed a photograph, but searching has not turned up the thread. I, like many others, reject the idea completely – my photo showed the effect of the side bubble in the cockpit perspex which could, with some imagination, be thought to be a face.
