Dimitri

Good to see your message.

I am likely to be in the Greek Islands over some of that period but not sure if anywhere near you.

Pleased to help…..!

Hello Tangmere1940, hello Ballykellybrat,
as being a member of the KDE team, I would like to inform you that the island of Kea lays ca. 150 marine miles far away from Chania (Crete).
As you understand, the airplane in Kea is not the same as the one near Chania.
Furthermore, the Kea (or Tzia) plane, is a totally unknown wreck, as we discovered it by chance last September (2008) while we surveyed the bottom near the newly discovered shipwreck of S/S Burdigala, which was our main goal of examination that time.
We plan a second expedition during the spring 2009. We are going to do field research in the area not only investigating the S/S Burdigala (former S/S Kaiser Friedrich) shipwreck, but also the virgin wreck of the airplane. We have no, though, any idea what it could be. It looks like a Junkers 52, but we do not really know what kind of plane is laying down there, 62 meters deep.
We just announce 🙂 that during the expedition (25th of May – 7th of June 2009) we are going to disturb you with questions, as we are going to need support and clarification regarding the unknown airplane.
Thanks in advance
Cheers
Dimitri

About 10 years ago one could go on a sight seeing boat trip from Chania – including a view of the “German Fighter”. Through the glass bottom of the boat the “fighter” was clearly a Ju52 (pretty mangled as you would expect). Maybe the same?
Cheers,
Bill
