Look what I bought :)

Original seller said his dad bought it home after WWII, then the guy I bought it from only wanted the contents so I made an offer. It fell into the ” I have to own it” category..

It IS the correct spelling for USAF usage.

Or, in this case US Army.. 😉

Going to use it to keep my Merlin, P&W & Wright tools in 🙂

Altho I fear I may be needing a few of those boxes, I just came across a place that bought FIVE TONS of radial engine tools…

Already picked these up. P&W valve adjusting thingiemagummers:cool::p

It IS the correct spelling for USAF usage. Just don’t try to use the box around a Spitfire, it will get confused and fly upside down!;)

Remember the box was probably senciled at a local unit…or supply/distribution center.

The poor kid was probably a private or corporal…
not exactly a Harvard grad.

That’s about a 3 hour drive, or more, depending on traffic. If I have anything going on over in that direction that might be fun to meet! Going to try to do Fantasy of Flight? Really great collection. They have warbird flights in Kissimmee. Sun-n-fun Museum in Lakeland, the Space Center just up the coast from you if you like BIG Rockets! lots to do

Chris,
Got Rellies on the other side of Fla from you (Ormond B, Smyrna B). Might be there next spring (if I’m a good boy!). If that happens can we have a meet?

Armor, Armour….It does make a difference. I lost a grade on a major paper I did in school, “Arms and Armour of Medieval Europe” and the bloody minded “English” teacher marked me down a full grade for “misspelling” armor every time. My argument was that it was a piece about European history and used it’s spellings. My argument fell on deaf (and dumb) ears!

Being that your box has bad spelling on it, I will be glad to take it off your hands. My mailing address is….

Very nice find

Nice one! Hoods/bonnets, boots/trunks, suspenders/braces, etc, etc, etc, quite apart from the differences in spelling. Two Nations separated by a Common Language!!!
Any other examples – apart from Armourer/Armorer – must be hundreds? Top collector gets to send a contribution to BCA!!

There is such thing as an Armorer in America, I always thought it was to do with small arms but maybe applies to all armourers.

It’s a fake.

They can’t even spell ‘Armourer’ properly 😀
