I have been scanning around the base in Google Earth, I notice various structures/remains which look like wartime/1940s dispersed areas, but cannot find any details.
Does anyone have a plan of the base from that time, that may shed some light on these?

TACAN = the military system the same as VOR/DME in the civvy aviation world (i.e. gives range and bearing).

I’ll have an ask around for you, which buildings are you on about? The ones next to the Tacan on the hill?

Have you tried asking at the Airfield Info Exchange, can’t go wrong there.

The RAFM museum hold the RAF airfield plans, copies can be purchased, but generally only if the station is no longer in full military use. The National Archives at Kew also hold some plans.
The history of Valley is well known and there are people who know what is what. Have you tried asking at the Airfield Info Exchange, can’t go wrong there.
