I am hoping to commission a painting for an ex 623 Squadron air gunner who I have known for over 25 years. He has in that time not only been a dear friend but an inspiration not only with his help and guidance with all things squadron related but in his ability to see life as it is.
He is in his 89 year and apart from an older sister he has no living relatives. I know the idea of a painting will really please him as he feels that after he as gone there will be no tangible memory of his life.
So can anyone point me in the right direction, obviously cost is a factor but I will over-come that as and when.
Kind regards
Steve

Steve
As was said before, some more info about your friend would be very interesting to hear and who knows may inspire one of us, I know am inspired to paint subjects by what I read and hear, and I’m always looking for new ideas.

Gents,
Thanks for all your comments and pointers. I’ m afraid some of the amounts wanted will see me in very serious trouble with “er-in-doors”.
Thanks anyway. !!
kind regards
Steve

🙂 I was thinking that people would look at different things and having a target to work to would be a challenge.
Sometimes being asked to do something not so much in your comfort zone can stretch you.
Having said that colouring by numbers stretches me 🙂
Just for fun, something to kill off those up and coming dark nights 🙁

How about a ‘paint-off’ ? If those bored artists amongst us go head-to-head to represent the aircraft / crew in question it could prove to be at the very least, an interesting exercise. Just a thought. I don’t doubt for a minute that the eventual commission will go to a professional artist at a large premium.

🙂 If you put a few more details in here maybe some of us will come up with an idea.I know autumn is here and winter 🙁 is round the corner so maybe something could happen.
Just out of interest post some more about your friends history and tales,i know i’d love top read them if he would like to share them:)

Try this forum’s aviation art thread: http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=75003
There are several good artists who would accept a commission. Paul C instantly springs to mind, as well as ‘unsigned’ artists (ie. me!) 😀
Take your pick! The guild of Aviation Artists (www.gava.org.uk) is always a good starting point too.

Hello Steve
Try the forum on E-Hanger.
http://www.ehangar.com/aviation-art.php
I had some success there a while back when I was looking for someone to do some aircraft profiles for the project I am working on.

artist
Hi Steve,
I know a good and reasonable artist that has done work for me over the past few years. I have attached an example of his work so that you have something to base your judgement on.
Anyhow, let me know if you are interested and I will put you in touch with him.
Best wishes
Gerry
