Hi…
I’m currently building the old, but great Airfix 1/24 Spitfire MkI (although this is not strictly a modelling question), and will probably depict Al Deere’s “Kiwi” even though that is one of the options with the kit. That in itself may lack imagination, but Roy Cross’s fabulous original artwork was a real inspiration and also, I wanted to depict a Spitfire that operated from RAF Hornchurch and Rochford.
The question regards Al Deere’s personal markings. Every model kit, painting etc I’ve seen depicts the “Kiwi” emblem depicted only on the port side of the fuselage…but having seen this…

Which “Kiwi” would this be? As it is interesting to note that the emblem is on the Starboard side of the fuselage. Other points of interest are the internally mounted rear view mirror and irregular fuselage dimensions. I wonder if this was common on all of Al Deere’s “Kiwi”, and that the emblem appeared on both sides of the fuselage?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated…

Don’t forget Rotol constant-speed propeller with blunt spinner.
