Looking for information/photos on an F100 Super Sabre that crashed on Babraham Rd in Sawston near Duxford in the late 1950’s? The pilot, believed to have been from nearby Wethersfield ejected and the plane missed all surrounding houses and came down virtually in the middle of the road.
My brother remembers being taken there on the front of my fathers bike and seeing this large crater with rubble everywhere.
Anyone…?

Early 1960’s!!!!
Incident happened Monday June 19th 1961. Pilot bailed out and landed at Pampisford. Aircraft did come from Wethersfield. 14 people slightly injured on ground
Date allows me to find a hit on Joe Baughers serial site
North American F-100D-65-NA Super Sabre
56-2971 c/n 235-69 (20th TFW/77th TFS) Crashed 2.5 miles north-east of Duxford, England Jun 19, 1961 following in-flight fire after takeoff from Wethersfield AB. Pilot ejected safely
Thanks very much Paul..
My brother would have been about six at the time so that all ties in. Now does anyone have a pic of the actual plane or crash site.. just to make the story complete.!

Oooh, while we are on hairyplanes out of Wethersfield, any offers on a mid-air in the circuit, with one aeroplane crashing at Cornish Hall End? IIRC (unlikely…), at least one was a T33.
