Well avro the general concensus is they are Seafire, I guess we had a few here, I do know a fella with a couple sets of Seafire legs but have no luck prying any from him. I hope to get back there shortly and have a real good look, I was at the end of the day and lucky I had my camera with me, I am hopeful I can scoop the rims if nothing else I will stick them on a shelf for display, I am of the opinion I have to act on all and any tips I may have just to rule the place out if there is nothing there so I can move on to the next place of interest, and of course my time is limited to look around, but am glad I stopped, cheers Darrell

Hi Darrell, being in Canada, any chance the wheels are Firefly or Seafury?
What else is in the scrapyard?

Well they had me a little fooled because I was sure they were not Spit, but looked the part, now I have to figure out what they are doing in a scrapyard not far from me, as I recall we in Canada did not have very many Seafires?? and I guess they may be worth picking up? thanks fellas, Darrell

AH8391 wheels have come up for discussion before on the forum.
Last time they did, a certain Spitfire expert identified them as being suitable for Seafire 46 and 47.
Or at least, that’s what I recorded at the time. A search might bring up the original thread?
Regards
Correct. 🙂
It is the large Seafire/Spitfire wheel at 13″ to accommodate the appropriate larger brake unit, which put the Seafire 47 on its nose, which resulted in retro-fitting the 10 1/4″ wheel and brake as used on the majority of Mk IXs.
