Found these pics while sorting through some of my late fathers photos. He was a member of the DAS during the 70’s & 80’s and usually had his camera with him.
The Spitfire G-AIDN and Seafury O-HB (the late great Hayden Baillies) were at a Dx airshow circa 1975, Hunter G-HUNT was a visitor while owned by the late Mike Carlton, and the F4U-7 Corsair was owned by Lindsay Walton and is pictured on its arrival at Dx around 1982-83.
Interesting to note that the 70’s pics show cereal crops in the middle of the airfield as at that time there was no proper grass strip, just the main asphalt.

thats about the year of my first show – I remember the Hunter well, whats the story on the Sea Fury scheme and codes? Looks RAF to me (painted up as a Fury ?)
The Sea Fury FB11 was owned by Ormond Hayden Ballie and was based along with his T33’s at Dx. It was painted up as a Tempest i seem to recall, and when sold to a German operater i think was written off in a flying accident but is i think still around.
As a small boy i remember OHB landing in this and taxiing up between two of Dx’s Belfast hangers (non airshow day) before shutting down and being swamped by admirers. He was a very popular guy!
