Down at Duxford’s Hangar 3 this morning….

Thanks for the quick reply was privaliged to have seen this fly,i wonder why Mr Grey never showed an Interest in this Aircraft would of been a great addition and a great stepping stone on to the La-11 awaiting restoration?
Also having seen it fly, it is a superb aircraft with a very impressive performance. $850,000 – seems like a bargain compared with your usual P51/Spitfire, etc.

It’s a bit difficult to see from 230 miles away!

So if the P-40 has been temporarily moved to another hangar, is something going on in the usual hangar that needs extra space?
sea furies? the big containers?

If I worked there I’d shuffle stuff around like this just to wind people up,
Peter
Evidently, they already do……;)

Boggers, you’re a very naughty boy.
You better believe it…;)

The guys at TFC will be falling about laughing at this one. No wonder they get annoyed with the gossips.
Peter – I certainly understand the sentiment, but I think the TFC guys were laughing about this thread before any of the rest of us saw it 😉

No one seems to have noticed the containers up the M11 end of the airfield…
…one of which being your kennel, another containing booster seats and a third full of !£$^&*%.

What? The ones doing 56 MPH up and down the road?…….:D

If I worked there I’d shuffle stuff around like this just to wind people up, or hire an empty container just to see everyone get whipped up into a frenzy about what had arrived.

ZK-LIX (La-9) is for sale on the courtesy website here: http://www.courtesyaircraft.com/
That implies that she’s a flier but whether she has flown recently is the big question of course.

In the run up to legends the rumour mill was kept in control by the excellent TFC blog which kept everyone informed and dismissed rumours before they got out of hand. Cant wait to see what it says about this!!

You would not be alone in having seen TFC machines in the hangar. I do appologise if this seems to be going off on a rant but i dont get why people start rumours about her having been sold when she has purely been photographed in another hangar. If she had a for sale sign on her somewhere than maybe it would be true. Surely at Duxford aircraft are regulary moved around the Hangars and i cant imagine finding a P40 size and shape space is easy.
I was also not directing my question at you, it was a question to everyone so maybe my use of a quote was out of place.
AH thats ok 🙂
I do share your view tho, i do doubt she has been sold, shes one of TFC’s flagship aircraft and is a new kid on the block

Could have been, i dont know the circumstances im just saying what ive seen when i have been up there

Excuse me if i am being dumb but could this not have happened and that the space there was the only space available?

Some tfc machines do creep over to hangar 3 as space is sometimes an issue but they dont usualy park them up near OFMC
Cheers

On the subject of OFMC
Is the La 9 still a flyer or has it gone to ground in a musem somewhere!
By: XH668 - 12th September 2008 at 13:43
That makes me confused
Me too, it was TFC but has there been a sale?
I dont know why the would sell her as shes a great machine and reading an article on OFMC they seem quite happy with the mustang and spit they have now.
