Bomb Find,

Just a bit of news for you all,

today at 2pm a german Bomb was found on a building site on the outskirts of portishead, the device was (according to the radio), 12 Inches Long,

it was destroyed at dusk by EOD with a controlled explosion,

250 Homes were evacuated for a period of 5 hours,I know it seems Overkill, but this bomb was very close to a underground Gas line.

its quite odd really as my Grandad allway said they would find a bomb or two there, as he remembers when they were dropped, totally missing the target, a massive string of Incendierys landed all over this area ,which at the time was a waterlogged field, he said loads of lads ran out to Pick these Bombs, they looked like Mushrooms sticking out of the ground,
He stupidly took 2 home before the police arrived, and was caught by his father in the shed trying to “disasemble it :eek:” ,His father, (greatgrandad” ) was a warrant officer with the newly formed ATC , hence to say my grandfather had the police around, etc to remove them, and he got such a hiding he could not sit down for a week, .

So, Mmmm, 12″ Inch device, I dont think it can be anything else of that size
apart from a incendiery, and also with what my gramps has told me of the site ,??
