How do I Research an Army Air Corp airframes history?

Some of you may have seen my other thread I have posted re looking for photographs and history on Auster AOP.9 WZ679

http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=84204

Ive sent an email to the archives section at the Army Air Corp museum at Middle Wallop and have as yet had no reply so am considering either calling them and/or arranging a visit.

Before I do either of the above Im hoping that someone can give me some information as to what I could/should be asking for to research the history of my airframe. I would prefer to have some idea of what Im asking for and looking to get before I make human contact.

Regards Martin

Try the RAF museum at Hendon, i think they have the movement and any repair cards for all RAF/ AAC aircraft, very helpful when i researched my auster.

The history of your aircraft is in British Aviation Research Group’s “Roundel” magazine. Send me a PM and I’ll help you out.

Unfortunately the AAC Museum’s research library is run very much on a shoestring, and you’ll probably be waiting quite some time for a reply. They would probably eventually send the same information from the same source anyway as it is (currently) the only one-stop-shop for Auster AOP.9 histories (amongst others).

Give them a little time – I wrote to them recently with regards to Tiger Moth BB860, I had a reply by email within 3 weeks and some paperwork turned up about 4 or 5 days after that. I found them very useful.

Much much longer than three weeks that I mailed them.

Maybe I need to recontact them. Can I ask did you just use the archives email address listed on their www?
