Mystery fuselage photo

Can anyone help identify the aircraft type in the attached photograph? As you can see it is part of a twin-engined aircraft being transported on a Queen Mary trailer. (I’m saying twin-engined as the mounts seem to be too close to the fuselage for a four-engined aircraft). Once all of the instantly recognisable bits have been removed it becomes quite tricky to tell what it is. The Queen Mary and the figures next to it give an idea of scale. Best guess so far is that it is an Oxford, but that doesn’t seem quite right. Any useful thoughts would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
James

For those who are interested it is probably somewhere around the Newark, Nottinghamshire area and is likely to be during WW2 – based on the other negatives that were in the same bundle.

I wonder how many were shot down in the Newark area? Probably quite a few given the proximity to Nottingham, Derby etc

I don’t believe that there we many He 111s downed in the Newark area; indeed the town itself suffered very few serious raids despite being home to the Ransom and Marles ball bearing factory.

Don’t forget that 58MU was located alongside the old A46 road.

Have you asked any questions here? www.newarkairmuseum.org

Yep, it certainly is a He 111 and you couldn’t really have provided a better photo to prove it!
Thanks very much for clearing that up.
