Spent the afternoon today at The Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum. Always a pleasure and so much crammed into the hanger. One of the volunteers heard my 3 year old son saying “Spitfire, spitfire” when looking at anything with wings. He went behind the scenes and came back 2 mins later and presented him with a nice old Airfix model of a Mark 1 Spit, looked very worn with no prop, no canopy, no undercarriage but to my son it was something to be very proud of and really made his day. A lovely touch and confirmation, if I needed it, that these places offer so much more than Disneyland and all the other big corporate days out.

It’s a great museum, the staff are friendly, the planes are looked after well. The pub next door landlord is friendly. I last went a fornight ago. Brilliant :D10/10

One of my favorite museums in the UK (reminds me of the early days at Pima in Tucson) and well worth supporting.

I was meaning to try the pub but ran out of time at the Museum and also got sidetracked by the scones and jam in the cafe:D
PS with a very original Sea Harrier and a Pucara that they are working on, thats a potential Falklands display/exhibit if ever I saw one

I got to know one of the volunteers quite well, Normandy and Arnhem glider pilot Albert Midgley, not seen him for years, hope he is still well.

Great museum doing good stuff on a tight budget. Friendly staff, stonking good pub next door.
My idea of what a museum should be like 🙂

Only been to Flixton once about four years ago, bloomin loved the place, must get back there some day.
