Anybody know anything about this Hoverfly captured at Luton circa 1958.
It was at a time when security was minimal and you could wander about in to the hangars.

Lee, Adjacent to it at the time was that Hunting Percival jet Helicopter that was being cut up by a scrap merchant. Mark
The P.74 if any aircraft deserved to be scrapped shortly after it was built, that was it!

If my memory is reliable (no warranty offered!) there was a post, some time ago, that featured a photo similar to this and, IIRC, the poster had the control column in his possession which he had been given on a trip to Luton whilst the helicopter was being broken up. A forum search might lead you to this and reveal more.
Possibly this one.

..but we now have the clue of the vital RN serial KL112 and Google confirms the serial and location.
Job done. 🙂

Lee,
My best shot on the date is the school summer holidays of 1958.
Adjacent to it at the time was that Hunting Percival jet Helicopter that was being cut up by a scrap merchant. Perhaps he did the Hoverfly next.

Can’t view the pic here from work and my PC router is up the spout. It should be KL112 which was finally broken up c.1958. Do you have a precise date for the pic?
