On the hills near Kingussie Scotland the Lancaster wreck has been in the news again..

Makes me laugh when the local chappie claims to have been protecting the wreck site, lots of interesting smaller items have been removed over the years, including the control column specatacles.Sadly larger items which should have been removed for proper display have been rotting away. In my view its a waste of historic material.

Were the team from Waddington granted a license for recovery of the blade? Or doesn’t that apply as effectively, it was the RAF recovering its own property?

Your probably right, doubt the RAF had a licence……..

Lancaster
Story I have been told is that the prop boss is in such good nick that it has been cleaned up and will be kept for spares for The BoB Lanc.

Never mind the blade…. what was done with the rest of the prop (complete with one sawed off stump) and all the other bits that were on their display in the hangar at Waddington airshow this year?
The condition it looked to be in I can’t believe they sawed the blade off rather than taking it out properly.
