Hi all,
This pic was shamefully pinched from Plane Talk (jbs pic) and shows the Loch Doon Spit under restoration at Dumfries & Galloway Museum. Any news on the progress?
Cheers

Agreed, the BL370 restoration was very good (and done by two good friends of mine), wish they had completed it!! When it left them it was beautifully accurate even down to the flap tap used to control the dip angle of the landing lamps…

Thanks John,
The fuselage looks good though, fibreglass wings would compromise the restoration similar to BL370 now in the US which also has an original fuselage with fabricated wings
Another “lost” opportunity IMHO
Cheers

Hi,
When I was up there taking that shot, the gentleman showing me around (Jim something, apologies but forget his surname) mentioned that they had a set of fibreglass wings that they were planning to marry to the airframe in due time. I found the wings under a tarp leaning against one of the museum buildings, and if my memory serves me right I seem to recall that they were salvaged from a replica which was wrecked in a storm.

I had read somewhere that the plan was to restore the fuselage, and fit fibreglass wings…
That was a good few years ago now!
