Vulcan XM594 anniversary event at NAM.

Today there was a special event held at Newark air Museum to mark the delivery of Avro Vulcan XM594.

There were ex-crew members in attendance some of whom flew on 594 while she was in service, names that stick in my mind are John Laycock (ex RAF Waddington SC), Hugh Prior (AEO on Black Buck 1 and 7), Phill Davies (Current AEO for XH558), there were quite a few others who came and went during the day.

There was also a book signing event and the AAPP was sparked into life and the bomb doors and air brakes cycled, I spent a wonderfull day in the company of Vulcan crew and also spent several hours giving the general public tours on 594 which raises vital funds for the museum.

Some of the crew members gathered in front of 594……

If anyone was or knows someone who was a crew member on XM594 I urge them to get in touch with the museum as Bill O’sullivain is researching the complete history of this magnificent Vulcan and would like to hear from you.

Kindest regards,

John.
