Liberty Belle to tour East Anglia today

According to the TFC Blog, the Belle will be flying out from Duxford shortly to overfly Lavenham, Thorpe Abbots, Horham and Framlingham, no doubt a few others will be added to the list as well, well some of them virtually touch each other in this part of the world.
It’s a very pleasant day today, a bit windy but with some of those monumental cloudscapes, Darren will have a field day.
Incidentally, there’s a nice bit of video of LB’s recent trip with Miss Velma on the TFC blog.

Awesome photos. What a great event, showing true British & American spirit and comradeship, while honouring the past.

Great shots, thanks for posting them.
Particularly love the colours of this ‘Fort’, and ‘Janie’ is looking lovely as ever, a few months later and ‘Marinell’ could have joined in.
Was that Bentwaters in shot number 7?

We had a nice fly past here at Wattisham this afternoon. LB had a modern twin in close formation with her, which I assume was some sort of camera ship.

What really annoyed me, and it may have been TV editing, I don’t know, but when I watched the BBC coverage of LB landing the other day, someone was pointing out to Don Brooks and Co where the restaurants were at DX, nice one, you fly all that way and you’re expected to pay for your own lunch and queu with everyone else, wierd.

Pete, that was me. They asked, I answered, in fun. In the tower were snacks and a welcoming cake as they were not stopping. Ask first, criticise with knowledge.

I do get rather tired with the “holier than thou” attitude of folk on this forum who always knock the media coverage of an event like this. I thought the piece on “Look East” last night was well-balanced and appropriate for what to the general public is just another old aeroplane. Lighten up folks and be grateful for whatever coverage it gets.

Mentioned this on a another board & someone asked if there were any plans to visit some German airfields just to remind em…:D:D:diablo::dev2:

I have it on good authority, that some very famous german names have already received a ‘visit’.

Lovely evocative shot there with the old tower MFERR, well done for doing something a bit different. In black and white it would look just like those WWII airfield shots.

It was our blog, and it was a joke about MacD’s being available over here 😉

The reception the guys in Belle got at Bentwaters was pretty special, when I have had a chance to edit the video of today I think you will see that. A very special day for all.

I apologise, I thought there was something odd about it, I’ve seen the initial video of the events at Bentwaters, what a day, I think that Don is a very special person, I look forward to possibly meeting him over the weekend.
I’d like to hear a bit of feedback from Jules Horowitz on these events, c’mon matey, what do you think.

Whilst “working from home” have just been watching a large silver bird circling the tower at Parham – brilliant. Quite emotional really – left me a bit speechless, in the same way that the BBMF does sometimes.
Many thanks to BeaufighterV1 and TFC blogspot for heads up. It would be interesting to hear what Don Brooks’ thoughts are about the reception they’ve had in the UK so far, as it appears a little low key at times. I’m sure that will all change at the w/e

I agree, I got very emotional seeing her arrive at DX last week, I was very tearful in fact, but is it because some of us have had close family ties with people who put their lives on the line in those days, everyone must have a family member who did.
Unfortunately the media is obsessed with house and petrol prices at the moment, you can’t blame them, life is a bitch, it’s events like this that should be promoted in order to give us a bit of pleasure.
I spoke to my son on his mobile today, he’s picking weeds in a field near DX, he was overcome at seeing the Belle fly over him this morning, thats just a typical youth, well, maybe not, I doubt whether any of his mates have been inside a B-17 as he has, probably can’t even remember it though, but something stirred inside him all the same.
