Anyone hear that recent arrival YAK-3 G-CDBJ ran off the runway at the weekend? Apparently occupants fine but any confirmation?

Aha!!! The rumour mill finally gets round to finding out…

It’s true, allegedly, it landed at a private strip in Kent and ran off the end hitting a fence post (allegedly). ‘Rumour’ has it that damage is extensive..

Don’t think you’ll see it in the next 18 months or so:rolleyes:

Propstrike,

Allegedly, the grass was dry, the wind was 15kts+ from the south

Interesting to see it take off (can’t really say rotate ) in a level attitude, with the tail kept down.

For groundless uninformed specualtion, how about this- wind blowing a storm last weekend (it was) .Yak arrives at private strip, which has just one runway, and the wind is gusting, and mainly across the strip. Gusts dictate quite a fast approach, and with no into-wind slowing effect, and wet grass from recent rain, a/c fails to stop within runway length.

From what I heard and I stress this is a rumour, it was on a private strip – ref Legends, before all this I saw on the line up that there were a few Yaks coming and was a bit surprised that it wasnt on the line up – lovely looking bit of kit. From what I understand it displayed at London City at the weekend and the accident happened when it came back, main thing is everyone ok, but hear the machine is damaged – hope not, Russian fighters are still an unusual sight in UK skies, esp after the departure of the LA-9 then the Polikarpov earlier this year 🙁

Unusual for the ‘rumour mill’ not to have picked up on anything significant of this nature, especially if whatever may or may not have happened ,happened in the public domain, say Headcorn or wherever. If on a private strip, only time will tell what transpired.

Was it to be a Legends attendee ? Fingers crossed for a happy outcome.

Not confusing it with the incident last year on the second day of its arrival in the U.K.?
