And also to answer my own question above,there was a piston provost crash in S.A in 1998 and this may sadly have been the a/c in my photo

There was at least one rhodie P Provost still airworthy in the early 80’s
These 2 pics taken in zimbabwe circa 1983,presumably taken by an AFZ photog from the back of a CASA transport,If anybody recognises these pics I will gladly credit them as I just cannot remember who gave them to me.I was an airframe tech on the Hawk squadron at Thornhill AFB near Gwelo in 83/84(when I wasn’t gliding :D) and a Provost was airworthy at that time,did she eventually go to S.A. ?

The AFZ fitted this SF260 with a turbo prop but without any airframe mods she could exceed the vne whilst climbing(or so my mate told me!he was an engine tech who did a few flights in it)
