Green rexine seat covers

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on WW2 RAF seat coverings, Geeky question i know but vital for a top class restoration. The 1944 drawings i have for auster leather seats states ‘Green rexine’ which is an artifical leather but what shade? Does anyone know? I’ve got several examples from classic car restorers but which is correct.

Does anyone know of any original examples of RAF aircraft in museums that have green seat coverings?

Thanks,

The ‘standard green’ looks very much like a British racing green colour but i’m trying to work out if most postwar restorations would have stuck to that colour and it has now become the norm…… There are alot of darker shades that would suit a military machine much more.

I’ve got some original Auster cushions – probably ex AOP9, but I will have to find them!

I’m pretty sure I have seen some of these seat cushions in the past and they were similar to British racing green…

Hi, I’ve been a few times to the Middle Wallop archives and wasnt that impressed, most of their auster stuff is in scrap books from magazine cuttings etc.
