Keep a Jaguar flying?

I had a mooch through the Govt petition website to see what weird and whacky suggestions were being put forward which had their deadline for today.

Now, I’m not expressing any opinion here, but this poor chap only has until the end of today to get more than his current 10 signatures to keep a Jaguar flying for the nations heritage.

Maybe, just maybe, we can get it up to 20 signatures by the end of the day!

If he wants to keep a Jag flying, best he put a bid in for a couple of these:

Signed, not sure if it’ll make much difference though.
I’m sure I heard some company called Qinetic (or something like that) had a Jaguar for tests. Is that still flying?

Edit: The company was called QinetiQ and no the Jaguar isn’t flying anymore:

Quite right too!

Realistically though, was there ever any chance of the government keeping a Jaguar flying (as the originator was hoping for)?

I’m sure it was well meant…..but without significant publicity all these petitions do is show an apparent lack of interest.

What do you need to start one anyway…..just be a British citizen with an e-mail address?

Soooo….as the Government reneged on allowing a referendum on the EU constitution (because they knew we’d say “no” but pretended it was because it was now a treaty and not a constitution!!) whats to stop a referendum by the back door via an E-Petition? Or has someone already thought of that?

If it gets another 99,983 signatures before midnight then I believe the governement may feel the urgency to respond.

If it gets another 100,000 on top of that, they may even discuss it at question time.

Come on, let’s get those signatures in. Let’s see if we can make it 30 before midnight.

Sigh!

Maybe I’m being a bit harsh.

This petition only got eight signatures!

Duly signed, well I had to as my non aviation orientated missus has a thing about Jags, but I doubt whether the PM or his current cronies even know what a Jaguar is. Oops, I forgot, as Chancellor of the Exchequer, he no doubt signed their death certificate.

I’d rather be one of the ten that can turn around and say ‘I supported his mad scheme of trying to keep a 70s ground atack Jet flying!’

Well done Creaking Door. I’m glad someone is on the ball! Sad but true. The guy really should have let a few more people know about this, if he was serious, but it is all a bit too late in the day.

If the CAA don’t like Lightnings, the chances of a Jaguar changing their minds are nil.

Guys – you don’t have to sign this. I’m just having a laugh.
