Does anyone out there have a picture of the BP Defiant cockpit? I can’t find one anywhere and don’t have the Defiant pilots notes.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Thanks Mark
PM sent.
Hello,
The wartime photos in my book are from the BPA collection and are of the prototype Defiant. The colour ones from Hendon were taken back when it was far easier to arrange a visit, I think around 1988.
The Defiant Pilots Notes does contain some pictures. These can be viewed in the RAF Museum research library.
There are other publications, magazines with pictures from the Hendon Defiant N1671, such as an issue of Replic Feb96, SAM March91.
Let me know exactly what you want to see and assuming no copyright problem then I can send you a copy.

Thanks Galdri
Yes, I remember JDK posted some turret pictures a while back… He never seems to stay away from the forum for long. Maybe he has some…

Elliot,
I think you need to talk to JDK, who is/was a member of this forum. He did, IIRC, crawl all over the Hendon Defiant to get shots for the Mushroom series on the aircraft. He is worth a try at least.

Mushroom Publications Boulton Paul Defiant by Mark Ansell has two wartime photgraphs of the Defiant cockpit. Much better quality than the those in Warpaint and show both sidewalls clearly. Look like official factory photgraphs.
Aviation Guide No 1 Fairey Battle by Ian Huntley has a number of the factory photographs of the interior and cockpit of the prototype, taken as it was being built.

Would Hendon have any of N1671, might be worth a try?

Two small but good pics appear in the Boulton Paul Defiant Warpaint, No. 42 in the series, page 22.

Hi Elliott
You could try the Bolton Paul association. They put the Defiant full scale reproduction together recently, and to me it looks fairly accurate, so maybe they had some good original drawings to work from. I’d guess they are the best people to approach for accurate references, like manufacturers photos.

There is the problem Elliot! The pilots notes do not have the cockpit shots (well my orange ones dont!)
The Battle is another elusive aircraft!

I saw that one already – thanks though – it seems to be the closest thing on the web.
