RAF Grey green aircraft paint

I’ve just been looking at a few pictures of WW2 British aircraft restorations and some of the interiors seem to be either dark grey/ green whilst others seem to be a lot lighter shade of grey/ green, is this purely down to the paint mix or was there a change of shade during the war?

Thanks.

There were a number of variations in the shade of green used by the various manufacturers and also the extent to which it was used. For example Westland loved the stuff and painted, for example, much more extensive internal Spitfire/Seafire areas with it compared to Supermarine/CBAF built aircraft.

So as usual – no hard and fast rules!

If you are looking for the shade of interior green for your Auster rebuild ,it is a much darker green than what you will see in modern uk warbird rebuilds of British a/c,I have a few original military Auster interior bits from my current Auster rebuild project.Good source of info is Middle Wallop Museum.
