22 June 1958…

… fifty years to the day, my friend and I sheltered from the rain under the wing of Hurricane G-AMAU and photographed this Spitfire – AB910 then belonging to Vickers Armstrong.

It was the ‘ticket only’ RAeSoc Garden Party at White Waltham…we did not have a ticket… but needs must. It was the first time we had been ‘up close and touching’ to a flying Spitfire.

Mark,

..and a shot of AB910 taken at Goraszka, Poland a couple of weeks ago.

Peter, congratulations on 50 years of up close and personal with Spitfires. That’s an achievemnet. I wonder if you have lost count of how many you’ve been that close to since.

Sorry to hear about your mate, John.
