This A/C has been built over a ten year period, and is essentially a replica, albeit one that incorporates about 1/3 original components, it is due to be painted in the next few weeks.

Well done, ARCO and BBMF for a brilliant looking spitfire scheme, in some ways silver spitfire’s look the best, it brings out the clean lines and curves.
Lovely
P.s Will Mk356 be at RIAT or legends, or neither.

Thanks to the two Cols for the additional pics. 🙂
If I may ask, what did 356 weigh before, and after the overhaul , and how far aft of the datum is the CoG now?
Cheers

Airtest
Thursday or Friday at the earliest for airtest. ARCo don’t pick the time. I do.
Engine start
Weigh
Weigh. Wingtips and the 266 engine which replaced the 500. CofG is fine.

Oh, you’re a one me old Fluffster! There’s nothing wrong with a minging Spitfire though, and silver looks damn good (on low back Spits in my opinion of course), and my Spit isn’t painted any colour, I don’t own one…apart from the ones at BBMF which I have a percentage share of from being a British Tax Payer……:D:D:D

Hmmm, I think my mind is playing tricks on me. Didn’t the Spitfire that MK356 is meant to represent have a standard rudder (in the only known photograph) as opposed to the broad chord rudder?
Yes but the broad chord rudder gives us a 15 knot crosswind limit
Also, wasn’t the same aircraft paint stripped rather than painted silver?
Yes
Surely paint stripping and then a coat of satin varnish to preserve the metalwork would have been a more authentic finish??
We could of done that but as you know its another 8 yrs to its next major so it was decided the paint job would look better as she didn’t look that good in bare metal.
