Hi folks,
Looking around at Kemble yesterday evening after the crowds had departed, I wondered what the long term plans were for these two jets? It only seems like yesterday that they were flying – I think the Sky coloured example participated in the Hunter 50th anniversary flypast at Kemble in 2001?
Both look like they haven’t flown for some years now and are missing their ejection seats.
Finally, I remember back in 2001 that somebody (BAe?) were producing a proper ‘pointy’ nose for the red ‘WB188’ but it to the best of my knowledge it never happened? Does anybody have any info on this?
Thanks,
Nick

I thought last years was a particularly good event, which allowed a close look at the resident historic (Britannia, Hunters, Canberras, Buccaneer + visiting cockpits),

At last years Kemble Open Day in September they had notice boards in front of each Hunter, not only with individual histories, but also with the plans for each one. Some were future restoration projects, some were for spares – unfortunately I can’t remember which was which. However they may do the same at this years Open Day (Sunday 14th September) so its worth keeping an eye out. I thought last years was a particularly good event, which allowed a close look at the resident historic (Britannia, Hunters, Canberras, Buccaneer + visiting cockpits), a peek inside Delta Jets hangar, plus a good display to boot.

Barry Pearson still owns them.
Ah, my apologies. I’d gathered at the time that Barry was looking to sell all his Hunters so assumed that’s what had happened. Thanks for the info.

Both jets used to be owned by Barry Pearson. When he and Hunter Flying parted company they were moved out of the hangar at Exeter and were later sold and moved to Kemble. Not sure who owns them now.

You’re right, they haven’t flown for a while and the pointy nose never did happen. Sadly, the red ‘WB188’ didn’t even make the celebrations of Neville Duke’s speed record at Tangmere in 2003 that it was painted red for. T.8B WV322 stood in at short notice instead.

Does nobody have an answer to these two questions???
Thanks,
