Spit intercostals

Just a quick querie..Going through the various Marks there seems to be two main types of intercostal brackets used.They can be described as flanged or unflanged.Is this due to the strength needed for the bigger engines used and if so when did the change occur..Image attached is the flanged type that we designed.:diablo:

I don’t know when they changed, but they are unflanged for the mk v.
