2008 Wings & Wheels Toronto AeroSpace

I had a chance to drop by the 2008 Wings & Wheels Heritage Festival held at Toronto AeroSpace Museum on Saturday.

Quirte a few aircraft dropped by during the day, not quite as many historial type of aircraft but still quite interesting. The Canadian Forces were well represented with some static aircraft and the museum moved their collection over to the large hangar next door so photo ops were much better suited.

Here are a few taken on Saturday.

Their Lancaster restoration FM104 looked quite interesting as it was sorta put back together fuselage wise but still quite accessible for visitors..

It was listed as belonging to CFSATE Borden. It was quite an active Snowbird from 1977-1987 thus quite a significant airframe.

Perhaps the tail support is ensure nothing drops off…:D

Interesting pic of 114043 Andrew! I thought that it was just their travelling cockpit sectiion.. Wonder why they have the tail on a trestle as all the weight would be up front anyway..?

Peter,

I think the Lancaster move was just for the event. I would guess she will be back into the smaller bldg once the event is over. The restoration ahead looks almost as big as the Halifax restoration at Trenton. Lot’s of corrosion to remove and repair but they have a pretty complete airframe to start with and what appears to be some pretty helpful volunteers.

Yes their tracker looks very smart. I think it was repainted the last time I saw it last year but this is the first time I have seen outside on display.:)

And idea on the snowbird 114043 that was being used for cockpit rides for the kids…

I am guessing it is now a training aid. As it had on it’s tail 889B

Their other Tutor 114168 was not on public display. It was stored in the museum area. But I still managed a quick picture.

Andrew

Great pics British Canuck! Have they moved the lanc into bigger housing as the last time I saw her she was pretty tightly hemmed in! I like the restoration job on the tracker as well!
